\n..Ich war 2023 und 2024 Patientin bei Ihnen. Die von Ihnen gestellten Diagnosen waren Nierenvenenkompressionssyndrom und Pelvic Congestion Syndrom.
\nMeine Symptome waren ziemlich untypisch. Ich litt damals unter anderem unter massiven Oberbauchkr\u00e4mpfen, etwa in H\u00f6he des Magens und somit etwa da wo sich auch die Engstelle befunden hat.<\/p>\n

Letzte Woche Samstag war ich nach \u00fcber 1,5 Jahren wieder in Leipzig. Das erste Mal \u00fcberhaupt ohne Schmerzen.
\nIn der Zeit nach der zweiten OP im September 2024 und heute sehr viel getan. Sobald sich mein K\u00f6rper von der OP vollst\u00e4ndig erholt hatte (etwa April 2025), startete ich in ein ganz neues Leben.
\nTrotz der Erkrankungen habe ich damals so gut es ging Tennis gespielt und war joggen um dem immer schw\u00e4cher werdenden K\u00f6rper so lange wie m\u00f6glich fit f\u00fcr den Alltag zu halten und auch um den Kopf mal freizubekommen.
\nSeit Mai spiele ich wieder Tennis, mehr als je zu vor, fahre viel mit dem Rennrad und Gravelbike, nehme an Triathlons erfolgreich teil und unternehme extrem M\u00e4rsche von 42 bis 55km und zuk\u00fcnftig sogar bis zu 100km am St\u00fcck.<\/p>\n

Ich bin ihnen so dankbar f\u00fcr die Diagnosen. Nur dadurch konnte mir geholfen werden. Ich muss dauerhaft regelm\u00e4\u00dfig R\u00fccken- und Bauchmuskeltraining absolvieren, da sonst leichte ziehende Schmerzen auftreten und bei Infekten treten schnell Verh\u00e4rtungen des Zwerchfells auf, die manuell Therapeutisch behoben werden m\u00fcssen. Ohne die manuelle Therapien treten sonst ein leichtes Druckgef\u00fchl und leichtes ziehen auf. Sobald diese wieder aber behoben wurden, bin ich f\u00fcr lange Zeit Symptomfrei.<\/p>\n

Vor drei Tagen habe ich in Leipzig einen 55km Marsch erfolgreich absolviert. Das w\u00e4re vor den Operationen utopisch gewesen, da ich mehrfach am Tag unter Oberbauchkr\u00e4mpfen litt und jedes Mal diese mich enorm ersch\u00f6pften. F\u00fcr 55km werden etwa 14h vom Veranstalter eingeplant, Ich habe diese heute in einer Zeit von ca 10h absolviert. Damals waren Wanderungen von 2 bis 3h das Maximum gewesen, die m\u00f6glich gewesen w\u00e4ren. Zwischenzeitlich lag die maximale Walking Geschwindigkeit bei unglaubliche 20km\/h \u00fcber ein paar Kilometer.<\/p>\n

Vielen Dank, dass sie mir geholfen haben. Ich setze mich seit diesem Jahr f\u00fcr Menschen mit seltenen Erkrankungen ein. Ich durfte meine Geschichte in Rahmen von Podcasts erz\u00e4hlen, schreibe ein Buch dar\u00fcber und versuche auch so diese Erkrankungen bekannter zu machen. Eine Herzensangelegenheit.<\/p>\n

In diesem Jahr werde ich mich erstmals auch Sponsorensuche gehen. Eine Firma hat schon ernsthaftes Interesse ge\u00e4u\u00dfert.
\nEine Riesen Wendung die mein Leben genommen hat.

    First of all, I want to express my sincere gratitude for helping us identify the cause of my son ..\u2019s many years of debilitating abdominal pain. The doctors in Norway had been unable to find the cause over a period of six years and told us we simply had to accept the situation and stop searching. You found the cause in five minutes.<\/p>\n

    I just want to give you an update that the treatment .. had a very good effect. Around Christmas last year, after our visit with you at the end of February, we were able to say that he was completely well!<\/p>\n

    .. he experienced complete relief from the pain.<\/p>\n

    In addition, he exercised daily to stabilize his core muscles (the psoas muscle) and his upper body\/back. Due to his young age (11 years), this was done in the form of play. The physiotherapist gave him exercises using a large ball. He also played a lot with VR goggles, which involved active use of his arms and upper body, and I believe this has contributed positively to the overall result as well.<\/p>\n

    As mentioned, this has been a long and extremely demanding process, during which we have often felt stigmatized and criticized, especially by the doctors. And when I presented your report, I was outright scolded. I understand that choosing your own path within medical science, as you do, requires a great deal. Therefore, I want to once again say thank you for helping our son recover \u2014 it would not have been possible without your assistance.<\/p>\n

Not only is she back at school (after missing two years from being so ill with AVCs) and can have fun with her friends, but she is also back doing competitive sports.     …had been in care for 11 days and we missed each other very much.
    \nWe were allowed to call him for 10 minutes a day for the first 3 days and the days after that we were allowed to visit him for 1 hour a day. All this was only allowed under the supervision of a supervisor.
    \nIn the meantime, …’s health deteriorated, he felt lonely and ..was not offered a day program. There was no psychologist or physiotherapist.
    \nWe told the judge our story and indicated that …really needed help and that you also confirmed that …had multiple compressions.
    \nThe judge then gave his verdict the same day.
    \nThe judge agreed with us and found it logical that if you can’t get any further here in the Netherlands, you look abroad.
    \nThe judge also agreed with us on other points and child protection actually had no reason to remove ….from the home.
    \nThat is why ….was able to go home with us immediately and we were happily the four of us again.
    \nIt was 2 intense weeks and it was hard to go through this. We are all very tired and still in disbelief about how this could happen.
    \nChild protection can still appeal within 4 weeks. So we are still a bit afraid of that.
    \nBut for now, we are enjoying each other again.
    \nIn any case, we would like to thank you very much for being able to reassess the images for us so quickly.

    Ich m\u00f6chte Ihnen ein letztes Update geben…Als ich Ende November von der Rehaklinik wiederkam und maximal 4h aufrecht sein konnte, war mein Hausarzt niedergeschlagen. Mitte Dezember hatte sich das komplett ver\u00e4ndert. Keine Schmerzmittel mehr und konnte dauerhaft aufrecht sein. Dieser Sprung war absolut\u00a0nicht absehbar. F\u00fcr keinen. Mein Hausarzt konnte es kaum glauben.<\/p>\n

    Zurzeit bekomme ich zum Aufbau der Muskulatur des R\u00fcckens und Bauchs Krankengymnastik, da die Muskulatur nach den beiden OPs kaum noch vorhanden ist.<\/p>\n

    Ich bin seit \u00fcber einem Monat schmerzfrei. Endlich. Und das obwohl ich f\u00fcr die Erkrankung untypische Symptome hatte und so ungewiss war ob die OP mir wirklich helfen w\u00fcrde.<\/p>\n

    Symptome waren Oberbauchkr\u00e4mpfe genau an der Engstelle und enorme Ersch\u00f6pfung bzw. Kreislaufprobleme in schlimmen Phasen und am Ende Oberbauchkr\u00e4mpfe sobald ich etwas trank…Alle paar Tage f\u00e4llt mir auf, dass mein Bauch ruhig ist und dass es mir gut geht.     1. Hallo Professors!!!… is now 17! It is 1.5 years since surgery. She is in school preparing for university to study law in 1 years time. She can EAT AND DRINK ANYTHING!!! She can now drive and she is dancing 3 types of dance, tap, contemporary and musical theatre on 3 days every week and is starting a little job on the weekends at a supermarket to earn some money for university.She unfortunately still has pain in the region of her celiac plexus and nausea at times too. She is using a ng at times for water to help clear her bowel which is so slow. But she is learning to manage all these symptoms of EDS and compressions and learning how to look after her health until we learn how to treat them! Verr\u00fcckt, wenn man bedenkt, dass ich wegen der Oberbauchkr\u00e4mpfe vorher alles durch machen musste und bei wie vielen \u00c4rzten\/ Krankenh\u00e4usern ich war. Inklusive der f\u00fcr schwere F\u00e4lle (sind Krankenh\u00e4user, die eine Abteilung haben, die versuchen Diagnosen zu finden, wo andere es nicht geschafft haben). Auch diese hatten die Kompressionssyndrome kaum bis garnicht auf dem Schirm.
      \nBitte geben Sie Ihr Wissen bitte so vielen Menschen wie m\u00f6glich weiter, damit langfristig den Menschen mit Kompressionserkrankungen geholfen werden kann. Schade, dass es in Deutschland nur Sie gibt, der sich richtig gut damit auskennt. Gef\u00e4\u00dfchirugen wissen das es sowas gibt, sind allerdings Meilen weit entfernt, diese zu erkennen. Viele kennen Sie als Spezialisten nicht mal.
      \nGef\u00e4\u00dfchirugen m\u00fcsste sehr viel mehr bez\u00fcglich dieser Erkankungsbilder geschult werden.<\/p>\n

Sie haben mir nach 47 Jahren Leidensweg ein neues Leben sowie die M\u00f6glichkeit der oralen Nahrungsaufnahme geschenkt, wor\u00fcber ich zutiefst dankbar bin!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Seit der Operation bei Ihnen kann ich mich vollst\u00e4ndig per os ern\u00e4hren ohne postprandiale Schmerzen\/Erbrechen und die Sonde ist nach 15 resp. 12 Jahren nicht mehr n\u00f6tig. Viele weitere Probleme, die ich vorher hatte in Korrelation mit der Jejunalsonde (Dauerentz\u00fcndung\/Schmerzen der Sondeneintrittsstelle mit bis zu 2-st\u00fcndlichem Verbandwechsel und gelegentlicher Antibiotika-Therapie), Mangelern\u00e4hrung, Schw\u00e4che, sind jetzt eliminiert. Ich habe keine Schmerzen mehr im Bein und es geht mir gesamthaft viel besser. Des Weiteren habe ich seit der Operation bei Ihnen am 28.3.2023 keinen Pankreatitisschub mehr gehabt, was eine weitere, erhebliche Verbesserung und Erleichterung f\u00fcr mich ist.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sie waren mein letzter Versuch, mich mit meinen seit Geburt bestehenden Ern\u00e4hrungsproblemen bei einem Arzt evaluieren zu lassen und ich hatte, bevor ich Sie kennenlernte, es nicht mehr f\u00fcr m\u00f6glich gehalten, einen Arzt zu finden, der endlich versteht, warum ich mich nicht per os ern\u00e4hren kann, mich ernst nimmt und mich sogar von diesen postprandialen Problemen\/Schmerzen befreit. I am happy to be able to live at my own little house again by myself, take care of my adopted Grandma who is in bed all the time, work at a bakery two days a week, volunteer at a bookstore and at an old people’s home, and I also took on the housekeeping at my neighbors. It keeps me busy to make food for ten people, do all the laundry and cleaning and more. 5 farmer men make a lot of dirt and need a lot of food!\ud83d\ude01 but I love my work! I also have time for some extra hobbies like sewing blankets for other countries, editing books, and learning the German language. (yup, go ahead and laugh at me!\ud83d\ude02I should have learned it BEFORE I came to the hospital, right? I’m afraid I made life hard for you.)         N\u00e4chste Woche startet sie mit Physiotherapie und danach m\u00f6chte sie wieder regelm\u00e4\u00dfig ins Fitnessstudio gehen.<\/p>\n

        All das w\u00e4re nicht m\u00f6glich gewesen, wenn wir nicht Anfang Februar die 450 km zu Ihnen gefahren werden. Ehrlich gesagt, waren Sie unser letzter Strohhalm. Eine\u00a0Odyssee an Arztbesuchen, Klinikaufenthalten mit diversen Tests liegt hinter uns. Aber jeder sagte uns, dass alles in Ordnung sei. Dabei hatte leider kein Arzt an Gef\u00e4\u00dfkompressionen gedacht.<\/p>\n

        Danke auch, dass Sie uns so zeitnah einen Termin in der Klinik in D\u00fcsseldorf verschafft haben. Das Team zusammen\u00a0Professor Sandmann sind einfach gro\u00dfartig.<\/p>\n

        I think of you every day and am reminded of the beautiful blessing God has given me, when we were led to Germany! For some reason tonight, I sat down and read your email you sent after my first exam in Germany, and for the first time, really truly took the time to read every word and detail, and I am quite emotional. I cannot begin to tell you how much my life has changed since the surgery. I no longer know what it is like to experience pain from eating. I can sit down with the family and enjoy a full course meal, even though my portion is still quite small compared to many. I have not gained any weight since surgery, but neither have I lost any, and that is very encouraging to me! Seven weeks after surgery, I was able to get rid of my PICC line for good. I\u2019m enjoying food, like I never knew possible. My family will still sit and stare some days, with eyes wide and jaws dropped at the very sight of me attempting to eat food!? My nieces and nephews remark at the oddness of Aunt Susie eating when they eat. It truly is such a blessing!! And one, that I just never knew to be possible!! Thank you so much for your part in all of this!!<\/p>\n

        I had really hoped to stop in on our way home from D\u00fcsseldorf, but I was so weak and exhausted and didn\u2019t know how it would be possible to have an ultrasound performed on a tummy that felt too tender to touch.? We flew back home on May 31st. My recovery was definitely more rough than any of my previous surgeries, but I was back to work a few days after surgery..working from my hospital bed, scheduling surgeries.<\/p>\n

        One major disappointment that I\u2019m facing is the severe separation of my abdominal muscles and a big hernia in my lower abdomen. I am currently undergoing testing and then another surgery to repair that. This has happened for me after my MALS surgery, but I thought it was something I had done, such as exercise such as planks etc. This time I didn\u2019t do any physical activity of any sort, and didn\u2019t lift more than 10 pounds for almost four months, and still it happened. My surgeons recognize this is probably due to the extensive EDS and so now they are taking extra measures to assure this will not happen again, by placing mesh between every layer of muscle in my abdomen. We hope for the best, as usual!? Surely, surgery number 14 will be my lucky number!!<\/p>\n

        Just wanted to say thank you again for all your help! You and your team have truly been a life saver in so many ways, and I feel quite blessed to have had the means and support to seek help in your country!! Life has such an interesting twist to it, and I can\u2019t regret anything I went through over the years, and I didn\u2019t know it could be lived with so much less pain, and the joy of eating food. I actually experience now, what I used to ponder about\u2026how can someone actually pretend to enjoy food so much!! It wasn\u2019t pretending!! It was real!!? A radiologist, vascular surgeon, and urologist (who also places PTFE grafts around renal vein) all looked over my imaging to confirm my PTFE grafts and organs still looked great. An additional (and unexpected) benefit from my surgery became evident at a year post op when an ultrasound was performed. It showed my previous severe chronic insufficiency in my legs was completely gone. I have two different doctors who diagnosed this prior to my compression surgery. I even remember a tech asking if I had diabetes because she was shocked at the severity.<\/p>\n
